How to use PSN Package NPDRM to create PS3 packages
PSN Package NPDRM is a tool that allows you to create PS3 packages that can be installed on a jailbroken PS3 or a PS3 running HEN. These packages can contain games, DLCs, themes, homebrews, or other content that can be accessed from the XMB. PSN Package NPDRM is based on an official Sony tool that was leaked and modified by some developers. It has some features that allow you to customize the package name, icon, background, and install location.
In this article, we will show you how to use PSN Package NPDRM to create a PS3 package from a folder containing the files of a game or an app. You will need the following:
A Windows PC with PSN Package NPDRM installed. You can download it from here[^1^].
A folder containing the files of the game or app you want to package. The folder should have a PARAM.SFO file and an EBOOT.BIN file in it.
A valid license file (RAP or EDAT) for the game or app. You can obtain it from various sources online or use a tool like make_package_license[^1^] to generate one.
A USB drive formatted as FAT32.
Here are the steps to create a PS3 package using PSN Package NPDRM:
Copy the folder containing the files of the game or app to the same directory where PSN Package NPDRM is installed.
Copy the license file (RAP or EDAT) to the exdata folder inside the PSN Package NPDRM directory.
Run psn_package_npdrm.exe as administrator.
Enter the name of the folder containing the files of the game or app. For example, if your folder is called NPUB12345, enter NPUB12345 and press Enter.
Enter a title for your package. This will be displayed on the XMB when you install it. For example, you can enter My Game and press Enter.
Enter a content ID for your package. This should match the one in the PARAM.SFO file of your game or app. For example, if your PARAM.SFO file has UP0001-NPUB12345_00-0000000000000000 as content ID, enter UP0001-NPUB12345_00-0000000000000000 and press Enter.
Enter a version for your package. This should match the one in the PARAM.SFO file of your game or app. For example, if your PARAM.SFO file has 01.00 as version, enter 01.00 and press Enter.
Enter a forced install location for your package. This will determine where your package will be installed on your PS3. You can choose from dev_hdd0/game/, dev_hdd0/home/, dev_hdd0/packages/, dev_usb000/, dev_usb001/, dev_usb002/, dev_usb003/, dev_usb006/, dev_usb007/. For example, if you want your package to be installed on your internal hard drive under game folder, enter dev_hdd0/game/ and press Enter.
Wait for the tool to create your package. It will be saved as pkg folder inside the PSN Package NPDRM directory.
Copy the pkg folder to the root of your USB drive.
Connect your USB drive to your PS3 and install the package from Install Package Files option on XMB.
Congratulations! You have successfully created and installed a PS3 package using PSN Package NPDRM. 061ffe29dd
